I attended the 3rd Region President’s meeting in Panama City, Panama 11-14 April. It was a great meeting and lots of discussions. Foremost is National's focus areas of Retention – ROTC – Recruiting. These will be reflected in our Chapter Annual Plan as well. Of significant surprise was our chapter was awarded the best Chapter in 3rd Region for 2019. This couldn’t have been accomplished if it weren’t for our volunteers and Community Partners who got involved in things like ROTC support to both our high school JROTC programs and our SROTC programs at our two universities, supporting the ESGR program, Veteran events and engaging with our congressional offices. Thank you to all how made it possible

We had a great General Membership Meeting on Friday, 26 April 2019 at Tequila Azul in Melbourne, FL 32940. Our Guest Speaker, Colonel Mike Ladd, Director of Military Support, Florida National Guard gave an excellent presentation on how busy the Florida Guard is and some of its challenges. There were lots of questions from the audience and a lot of interest. COL Ladd was joined by his brother SGM (R) Shane Ladd who is settling in this area.

We have our Army Birthday event / General Membership Meeting coming up on Friday, 14 June 2019 at 6:00 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Center, 400 S Sykes Creek Pkwy, Merritt Island, FL 32952. More details shortly.

As stated last month, my term ends this June to coincide with our end of operating year so we are in the election cycle. Positions that require a vote are Chapter President and Chapter Executive Vice President. The ballot is locked now although there can always be write in candidates. I am running unopposed for President, JB Hudson and Steve Baber are running for Executive Vice President. Submit your vote to communications@ausaspacecoast.org before 15 May.

As always, we need volunteers to step up and join our Board. No prior military experience is necessary.
